Arisen: Hope for a New Day

But may all who love you be like the sun
when it rises in its strength.” (Jdg 5:31)

I can recall different times in my life when it felt as though I couldn’t get out of bed. When I awoke, I was met by a cloud of deep sadness that kept me from rising with joy and strength for a new day.

Life is very much about our willingness to see our circumstances, pain, and struggles through God’s eyes. When we start to filter our life experiences through the goodness of God, we start to see ourselves and our circumstances with new vision and hope.

Hope awakens the soul. Hope strengthens an individual wrecked by fear, insecurity, anxiety, and despair. Hope puts our hearts at rest. It sets our minds in a place of safety. Hope creates in us a new perspective. It is grounded in love and brings joy to the heart.

As the sun rises for a new day, so does the soul. The sun doesn’t tell the creator when and how it should rise, the sun merely follows the creator’s cue. The sun says, “I will be and do what you have created me to do, I’ll follow your lead.”

The Christian who rises with new strengths says, “Lord, I am your servant, today I will rise in new strength, I will soar high on eagles wings, I will not give way to fear and I will place my life in your hands.” They will say with Mary, “I am the Lord’s servant, let it be unto me according to your word.” (Luke 1:37)

Finding strength has very little to do with mustering up the wherewithal within ourselves for it. Strength is found in submission. Submission to Almighty God, who wraps us in a cloud of His grace for each new day. Strength is not found within our own abilities, but within what God has given us- His Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit empowers the believer to think differently, choose wisely and walk in freedom. It is that power we actively submit to that stirs within us fresh hope, strength and fortitude for a new day, in Jesus name.

Lord, how wonderful are your works. How great is your love for me! Lord, who am I that you are mindful of me? Father, your love empowers me to rise with new strength each day through the Holy Spirit you have given us. Father, if there are any who are sad, please, be their joy. If there are any who are without hope, may their hearts rest in you alone, in Jesus name, Amen.
