Walking in Victory Over Our Past

the one who believes in him will never be put to shame….(Romans 9:33).

Keep going, friend.  If you’re clinging to Jesus, you’re heading the right direction.  You may have taken some twists and turns, life may have thrown you a discouraging curveball or two, but if you’re holding fast to your Lord in the midst of it there is no message from the enemy that can penetrate your armor.

When we live as more than conquerors through Him who loves us, we are not only victors over our present, but we can go back to painful seasons and rise as victors over them too.  The Lord is currently taking me down a painful and difficult path.  It’s pressing buttons in me that are triggering painful seasons in my past.  Quite frankly, I want to respond in anger and cynicism, but I know this will only keep me from wearing the victors crown over those wounds of the past.

If similar seasons in life press in on you take note of what starts to come out.  I’ve noticed for me that because I didn’t always store up good things in my heart during those seasons, the Lord is squeezing out all the junk I believed and held to during those painful times by walking me through a similar painful season.

He’ll do that because, in the pressing, He wants to fill us instead with His love.  We just have to start believing different things and no longer cover our hearts in anger, cynicism or the like.  We must allow the Lord of mercy to cover our hearts in endless grace as we walk forward with Him into His victorious life.

Father, I want to believe a different story for my life.  I long now to walk in the freedom that Jesus offers someone like me.  Please help me walk now in this new life.  I want to live differently and to walk in the divine freedom that is mine in Christ.  This pressing is painful, but I know you’re trying to fill me now with good things covered in your grace, in Jesus name, Amen.
